Running alongside the Big Swim on Saturday 20th September there will also be a CBTR Family Open Day. Located in the University of Nottingham Sports Centre, opposite the swimming pool, this fun filled event runs from 11am to 3pm with lots of different activities for all the family.
At 11.15am there will be an opening performance of ‘Iron Lung’ by Nottingham Youth Dance in association with New English Contemporary Ballet. Stalls including tombolas, games and refreshments will be open throughout the day and younger guests can enjoy a soft play area for the under 3’s, performances by Dazzle the Clown, puppet shows, balloon modelling and the opportunity to practise circus skills.
Even the Nottingham Panthers’ Cheerleading Squad, the Wildcat Cheerleaders will be cheering for the cause, with the chance to take part in a workshop and learn some cheers! There’s also a science part, hands-on, interactive science displays and a Teddy Bear’s Hospital, where you can bring along your own bears and find out more about healthy living, hospitals and doctors.
Talks by Professor David Walker and Professor Richard Grundy at 12pm and 2pm, will give you the opportunity to find out more about the work of the Children’s Brain Tumour Centre. We hope to see you there!
